About me

Hi! I'm Erik, a Swedish traveler based in Stockholm. I did my first solo trip in 2008 when I moved to Nice to improve my French and try to get a job on a yacht. It didn't work out the way I planned, but I got a job in a French restaurant and stayed in Nice during the summer.

Living in France made me realize how much I enjoy being in new places and meeting people from other countries with other perspectives. It made me grow a lot as a person. Since then I've visited over 20 countries, mostly in Europe but also Southeast Asia and Australia.

Trips off the beaten path

I prefer places that are a bit off the beaten path. I backpacked through Thailand, from Chiang Rai down to Koh Lipe and a lot of places in between. I've also spent longer periods living in Nice and Paris, and those cities feel like second homes, at least Nice. I travel a lot by bike now.

When I cycle I can go at a calmer pace, so I have time to see everything but still cover some ground and it's great for getting to know a smaller region.

On the blog

I’m not a full-time blogger, but I travel as much as I can. A lot of what I write ends up being about Sweden, especially Stockholm, where I live. On the blog you’ll mostly find destinations off the beaten path, plus cycling trips and hikes along marked trails.

I write about my trips, but I also try to give as much advice as I can, even about the things I missed or could have done better. I want it to feel like I’m giving travel tips to a friend or a colleague.
